UQU, your student union
We represent the interests of UQ students and run independent services, events and outlets to enhance your student experience including Student Help On Campus (SHOC); 9 retail food and beverage outlets; and a fantastic campus culture. As an independent body, UQU represent students on all important university committees to ensure your voice is heard on all university matters.
A number of major campus events are run by UQU throughout the year including; Market Day, Ignition Neon Party, Cultural Fiesta and International Beer Day. Clubs & Societies
We also offer over 190+ clubs and societies to suit your hobbies or interests you didn't know you had. Whether you're joining a religious, special interest, postgraduate or faculty club you'll benefit from social activities and networking opportunities here at UQ.
Student help on Campus (SHOC)
SHOC (Student Help On Campus) is an independent, short term support service for all UQ students. SHOC can provide you with assistance on matters relating to advocacy, support and university decisions. SHOC can support you on matters relating to Education & Equity, Job Preparation, Gender & Sexuality, Legal, Migration, and Welfare.
Food and Retail
The more you support UQU outlets, the more we can support you! All additional UQU outlets proceeds help us deliver the best possible student services.
We offer food, beverage, retail and entertainment outlets at St Lucia including secondhand textbooks, lollies, fresh salads, gourmet pizzas and even a cinema! Support your UQU and visit Darwin's, Main Course, Pizza Caffe, On a Roll Bakery, Lolly Shop, Secondhand Texts & Stationery, REDROOM, and Schonell Cinema.
The Union Complex is also home to Boost Juice, Brisbane Sports & Spinal Physiotherapy, Campus Pharmacy, Casson IT, ChaTime, Commonwealth Bank, Dentist, Guzman Y Gomez, Kebab&Co, Mr Beans, STA Travel, Subway, Uni Disc and the Uni Hair Salon.
UQU Services Agreement
Any profits made from business activities are invested back into UQU to further improve services and facilities which benefit the students. Read more about UQU and SSAF.
Academic Advocacy Network
The Academic Advocacy Network (AAN) is a student-led system of academic advocacy coordinated by the UQ Union. With representatives across Schools and Faculties, the role of AAN is to speak up on students’ behalf for all academic matters. Read more about the AAN here.
