UQ Advanced Humanities Society (UQAHS)

Founded in 2021, the UQ Advanced Humanities Society aims to support students studying the Bachelor of Advanced Humanities. UQAHS creates a space for students to get to know one another outside the classroom setting, foster relationships across cohorts, and get the most out of university life. By working with course staff, UQAHS also supplements degree content with activities designed to further student’s understanding and skills.

“What are you going to do with that?” A question that all humanities students are familiar with, posed by friends, family members, teachers, indeed anyone who knows what degree they’re studying. The job market for a humanities graduate can seem confusing in the absence of a clear path into any one career. UQAHS is here to help students overcome this confusion by building a network of graduates who can support one another in their future fields.

While on campus, students can attend casual meetings and make friends with students across all cohorts of the degree, as well as more academic student-run sessions helping them navigate their undergrad courses. UQAHS works closely with the program convenors to ensure that this external support matches the design of the program itself. And of course, UQAHS will be facilitating the annual Advanced Humanities jumpers!
