Robogals Brisbane (RGBris)

Robogals Brisbane (formerly Robogals UQ) inspires, engages and supports the next generation of engineers in schools, universities and industry.

Robogals is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to empower girls and young women to pursue engineering and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields. We aim to create a global culture of diversity and inclusion in STEM. Robogals Brisbane is the local chapter of Robogals and is a student-run organisation. We run robotics and other STEM-related workshops for schools and libraries to empower school-aged students. At a university-level, we provide a friendly, warm and supportive culture for our members. Students of all genders and study areas are encouraged to join. We also provide opportunities to develop skills such as public speaking, leadership and technical skills.

Some of the activities that we host every year are:

Launch Nights: Welcome nights for volunteers
Rural Trips: Volunteers travel to rural Australia for a week to run workshops and inspire the students in these areas. These trips are fully paid for and past locations have included Cairns, Gladstone, Byron Bay, Stanthorpe, and Gympie.
Training Sessions: Sessions to help you gain skills in coding, public speaking and teaching. We run tutorials in our Arduino hackathon to teach these skills.
Workshops for school students: Volunteer-run workshops in Brisbane
Industry Events: Events such as our Industry Gala and Industry Trivia Night to connect university students to companies that value a diverse workplace
Social Events: Everything from lunch to laser tag!
