UQIES is a student-run society for aspiring entrepreneurs from the University of Queensland. Our members come from a range of faculties, all looking to innovate and create change in their respective fields.

Members of our society are working on a range of exciting ideas, from drone technology to neuro-based learning applications. We aim to augment our member’s development and connection to the broader industry.

In pursuit of inspiring and connecting, UQIES hosts many events across the year:
1) Industry networking events
2) Specialist discussion panels
3) Design thinking and customer-centric seminars
4) Pitch nights
5) Our tech-oriented festival, Techtoberfest,
6) And of course our flagship event, The Weekend of Startups

After many years of involvement, 2017 saw UQIES undergo a massive change to their brand and vision, aiming to become a bigger and better society. After a year full of events, collaborations and industry events the student society reached the largest member base in history, and hosted 15 premier events throughout the year as well as being nominated for several UQU club awards.

Every year, UQIES takes great pride in hosting the UQ Weekend of Startups. This flagship event takes place in September each year and aims to bring students, mentors and industry experts together. Several early-stage startups were spawned as a result of these events, demonstrating its immense success as an industry event on campus.

UQIES aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship amongst campus culture and is open to all students, staff, alumni and other interested parties. We invite anyone who is an entrepreneur, a budding entrepreneur or an aspiring entrepreneur to get involved with us.

UQIES is known for its disposition of innovation, and the ability and passion of its members. The students we represent are the future leaders of thought and industry. We help to bridge the gap between our highly in-demand members and commerce through the talent management arm of our organisation.

If your organisation is looking for fresh thinking provided through internship programs or through a solution-specific program, please feel free to contact us. We’re always looking to bring in new students who are interested in developing skills and connecting to industry.
