The Social Sciences Association is a society run by social science students, for social science students. We aim to:

  • Foster a sense of community and support amongst students in the social sciences and related disciplines
  • Provide opportunities for students to network with industry organisations, especially through the annual Social Science Futures Forum, which is co-hosted with the School of Social Science during semester 1
  • Promote the social sciences within the university and the wider community
  • Link our members to internship or professional development opportunities, or to relevant contacts to assist with these
  • Have a small, friendly executive committee who are always looking for people to get involved and help out. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, please let us know at the next event you attend!
  • Hold regular social events including trivia, discussion and movie nights
  •  Hold mid- and end- of semester social BBQs and cocktails
  • Produce a fortnightly newsletter to keep our members up-to-date on the society and our events, as well as news from both the UQ and broader social science communities
  • Keep up an active profile on our social media and website, to ensure that members receive plenty of updates and can remain actively involved in the society as the year progresses

SSA is a UQ Union affiliated club
