UQU 2017 Executive
Hello and welcome to UQ!
My name is Gabii and I am here to represent you as the President of the University of Queensland Union. My job is to ensure that you are having the best university experience on offer and that your student union is focused on you.
In 2017, your student executive team is here to listen to you! We want to foster an inclusive culture for all students including international students, LGBTIQA+ students, women, and college students across all campuses. We will provide you with the best representation, stronger advocacy and a vibrant and diverse campus culture.
So, what does your student union have in store for you?
Life at uni shouldn’t be all about study, so check out one of 200+ UQ Union Clubs and Societies on market Day. UQU Clubs and Societies are inexpensive to join and the best way to meet new people with social and cultural events for people from all types of interest groups. This year you can also look forward to fantastic events on campus including a spectacular O-Week party as well as Cultural Fiesta, Roller Rink Disco, Arts Festival, St Patrick’s Day and Oktoberfest.
You can find a great feed at any of the UQ Union owned and operated food outlets including the on campus bar – the Red room, Darwin’s, Main Course, Pizza Caffe and Physiol. In 2017 your student executive will be providing free breakfasts and dinner out of the Student Rights Hub (located next to Secondhand Texts and Stationery in the Union Complex).
Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned so SHOC (Student Help On Campus), UQU’s free confidential support service, is here to support you with migration, welfare, legal, gender & sexuality, education & equity, and employment services. Books a free appointment online of check out SHOC’s collection of blog posts, videos and free resources on the SHOC Facebook page or shocuqu.com.au.
