What is the SSAF?

On 11 October 2011, the Australian Parliament passed legislation allowing universities and other higher education providers to charge a fee for student services and amenities of a non-academic nature. This fee is used to provide and enhance services on campus for the benefit of the student experience.

Who receives the funds?

The funds received from the SSAF is divided up by The University of Queensland and allocated to services as defined in the Higher Education Legislation Amendment which includes but is not limited to:

How is the SSAF split?

The Government is committed to ensuring the consultation universities take with students is genuine, and that students have a proper say in how the compulsory Student Services Amenities Fee is spent.

Universities are required to have a formal process of consultation with your elected student representatives here at UQ Union. Typically the SSAF is divided between UQ Student Affairs, UQ Sport and UQU, your student union.
