Student Support (SHOC)
What is SHOC?
Brought to you by UQU, SHOC (Student Help On Campus) is a free, independent, short term support service for all UQ students. SHOC can provide you with assistance on matters relating to the following services: Education & Equity, Employment, Gender & Sexuality, Legal, Migration, and Welfare.
Making an Appointment
SHOC has a convenient online appointment system, which allows you to make face to face, phone and Skype appointments. To make an appointment click on one of the services below and follow the information on the top of the page.
Counselling Support
Currently SHOC does not have the capacity to provide counselling support. If you are looking for counselling services then you can call Student Services on 3365 1704. Additionally, your GP may be able to create a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you, or you can contact your local Headspace Centre to come and see someone there.
Visit SHOC in the Union Hub
Drop by the Union Hub every Wednesday, 2pm - 3pm for free, independent support from a SHOC advocate. No appointment necessary.
RAPID TESTING THURSDAYS
Every Thursday, free testing appointments avaible at St Lucia Campus.
We want to make sure SHOC is accessible to all students who need our help. So, please note:
- Only currently enrolled UQ undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible for this service
- Students may book only one SHOC appointment per week (to ensure equitable access for all)
- Appointments must be cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Repeat cancellations or no shows may mean you are ineligible for future assistance.
