Student Support (SHOC)

SHOC Student Help On Campus

What is SHOC?

Brought to you by UQU, SHOC (Student Help On Campus) is a free, independent, short term support service for all UQ students. SHOC can provide you with assistance on matters relating to the following services: Education & Equity, Employment, Gender & Sexuality, Legal, Migration, and Welfare.

Making an Appointment

SHOC has a convenient online appointment system, which allows you to make face to face, phone and Skype appointments.

To make an appointment click on one of the services below and follow the information on the top of the page.

RAPID HIV & Syphilis Testing without the full Q&A

We've partnered with Queensland Positive People (QPP) to host a free RAPID HIV and syphilis testing clinic every Friday, 12noon - 4pm at the SHOC, St Lucia offices.

The service is open to UQ students, staff, international students, students under the age of 18 and Medicare ineligible students on a drop-in basis. The non-invasive tests are performed by trained community members and require just a small finger prick to receive results in 20 minutes or less.

Counselling Support

Currently SHOC does not have the capacity to provide counselling support. If you are looking for counselling services then you can call Student Services on 3365 1704. Additionally, your GP may be able to create a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you, or you can contact your local Headspace Centre to come and see someone there.

Visit SHOC in the Union Hub

Drop by the Union Hub every Wednesday, 2pm - 3pm for free, independent support from a SHOC advocate. No appointment necessary.
