MONDAY APRIL 4

Throughout Feminist Week the UQU Women’s Collective will be hosting a stall and photo petition in the UQ Union Complex (also known as the food court). This will be the go-to spot to learn more about feminism, to become involved in our week-long photo petition and to pick up a timetable for Feminist Week events!

Women in Law Faculty Event
6pm – 8pm in the Holt Room
Five phenomenal women will talk about their experiences in the legal industry, the barriers faced by women in the profession and ways for future young solicitors, barristers and legal professionals to overcome the same disparity. Our speakers include the Honorable Shannon Fentiman (Minister for Women), Amelia Trotman (President of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland), Cassandra Heilbronn (Vice President of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland), Soraya Ryan (QC criminal bar) and Debbie Kilroy (CEO of Sisters Inside), moderated by Professor Heather Douglas of the TC Beirne School of Law.

TUESDAY APRIL 5

Gender Pay Gap Bake Sale
10 – 2pm on the Grassy Knoll
Come and visit the members of the UQU Women’s Collective to purchase baked goods – with a difference. Specific to each faculty, each baked good will only cost you the proportion of $1.00 that you earn comparative to men (or, if you identify as a man, all baked goods with cost you $1.00!). For example, if you are a woman of colour in the legal profession, a baked good at the stall will only cost you 55 cents!

Men in Feminism Panel Discussion
6pm – 8pm in the Mansergh Shaw Building, room 204
One of our main panel discussions throughout Feminist Week is our Men in Feminism panel. This panel will focus on the role of men in the feminist movement, can men be feminists and how feminism supports and assists men as well as women. Our speakers include Associate Professor Jonathan Crowe (of the TC Beirne School of Law), Emil Canita (Vice President of Gender and Sexuality at the UQ Union), Tasman Bain (co-founder of Meri Toksave) and Mitchell Robson (Gender and Sexuality adviser at Student Help on Campus) moderated by Samantha Kelly (Outreach Director at the One Woman Project).

WEDNESDAY APRIL 6

Celebrating Women of Colour
6pm – 8pm in the Innes Room
Join us at this phenomenal event to hear from a diverse group of UQ women who will each share their unique story, thoughts, ideas, and passions with us. Our speakers will touch on topics including race, culture, religion, relationships, and more. Come to listen and learn - you might hear a story similar to your own, or perhaps entirely different from your experiences, but you'll no doubt take away something special from this event. Our speakers include; Sanam Saba Ahmadzada, Ayesha Tauseef, Faeza Lima and Clarissa Rios Rojas.

THURSDAY APRIL 7

Ask a Feminist Picnic
12pm – 3pm on the Grassy Knoll
On Thursday April 7 the UQU Women’s Collective will be hosting an Ask a Feminist picnic! This event, held on the Grassy Knoll, is an opportunity for anyone to come and ask a volunteer student feminist any question you have ever had, engage in some fun feminist discussion or just stop by for a chat! We will also be sourcing questions from our #AskAFeminist hashtag – so if you can’t drop by the event, tweet us!
