UQU International Department are teaming up with SHOC to bring you a workshop "Work While You Study: Tips for Casual Employment".
Speakers will share their extensive knowledge about employment, job preparation, legal rights and even the do's and don'ts of resume writing.
From 6pm, there will be a chance for student networking.

Kristian Wheelehen - 'Job Preparation, Resumes & Cover Letters: Dos and Don'ts'
Kristian has been with SHOC/UQU since May 2016. A qualified social worker with previous experience working in child and youth mental health, child protection as well as family support work within the family law context, he enjoys supporting students who are experiencing wellbeing and welfare issues as well as equipping students with the skills to search and apply for employment opportunities while they are studying.
Poonnam Cariappa- 'Your Rights at Work'
Poonam first came to Australia in 2004 to complete her Masters in Law and was then Admitted as a Solicitor with the QLD Supreme Court. Prior to commencing with SHOC/UQU in August 2015, Poonam was in private practice. Her areas of expertise are Family Law and Migration – the latter became her passion after moving here and experiencing the frustration of dealing with Immigration. Despite that, Poonam is known as ‘The Happy Lawyer’!
Alynna is a fifth year Bachelor of Law/ Bachelor of Journalism student at UQ. Since her first year, Alynna has been heavily involved with the clubs and societies on campus whilst balancing work, internship and study commitments. She has served as President of the UQ Red Cross Society and held executive positions in both the UQ Law Society and UQ Korean Society. She was awarded the Outstanding Campus Culture Award for her contributions to the student community in 2015. Professionally, Alynna has worked with organisations such as Change Makers Media Inc., Utopia Entertainment and Brisbane City Council.
