Need a part-time job but don’t have any experience?

We know that getting a job with no work history can be extremely challenging so we are launching UQU JobStart in 2018. The program will provide the successful candidates with a paid job for 3 to 6 months where you will gain valuable skills and on-the-job experience that will assist you with securing other jobs in the future.

To be eligible you must;

  • Be a current UQ Student
  • Have no previous paid work history
  • Agree to undertake some basic training
  • Be available for the required hours each week
  • Be available to commence the role in Jan/Feb 2018
  • Agree to be involved in UQU’s social media campaign promoting the program

 

There will be a range of jobs available in the UQU food and beverage outlets across the St Lucia campus. In addition to receiving on-the-job training you will also gain skills in job seeking, resume preparation and interview techniques to make sure you’re ready when you start your job search.

Available Positions:

Fridge and Cold-room Attendant (location Physiol)

Duties: filling the fridge, receiving stock, stock rotation, removing of rubbish, sweeping, mopping, temperature taking.

Hours: 12- 15 hours per week - 6am to 9am, Monday to Friday.

Training:  On-the-job.

 

Cashier and Customer Service Assistant (location Physiol)

Duties: Till operation, customer service, cleaning, restacking food items, helping the kitchen hand, putting away clean dishes, polishing glass.

Hours: 6 hours per week - 11.00am to 2pm Tuesday & Thursday

Training:  On-the-job.

 

Cashier and Customer Service Assistant (location Darwins)

Duties: Till operation, customer service

Hours: Approx. 10 hours per week

Training: Responsible Service of Alcohol and On-the-job.

 

Cashier and Customer Service Assistant (location On a Roll Bakery)

Duties: Till operation, customer service, food preparation and service

Hours: Up to 15 hours per week

Training:  On-the-job.

 

Food Service Assistant (location Main Course)

Duties: Assist in the preparation and serving of food

Hours: 8 hours per week across 2 shifts

Training:  On-the-job.

 

Cashier and Customer Service Assistant (location Main Course)

Duties: Till operation, customer service

Hours: 8 hours per week across 2 shifts

Training:  On-the-job, 2 shifts on-the-job training prior to O-Week.

 

General Hospitality Assistant (location UQU Functions)

Duties: Customer service, table waiting, set up and pack down of functions, delivery of catering on campus. 

Hours: Depending on when functions are on. Some weekend and out of hours work required

Training: On-the-job

 

General Hospitality Assistant (location Pizza Caffe)

Duties: Till operation, customer service, food preparation kitchen hand duties, glass and plate collection and washing.

Hours: Approx. 10 hours per week, may include weekends

Training: Responsible Service of Alcohol and On-the-job.

 

General Hospitality Assistant (location Red Room Bar)

Duties: Till operation, bar service, customer service, food preparation, kitchen hand duties, glass and plate collection and washing.

Hours: Approx. 10 hours per week

Training: Responsible Service of Alcohol and On-the-job.

 

Cleaning Assistant (location UQU Cleaning and Maintenance)

Duties: General cleaning of Union Complex and UQU food outlets which will include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floors, wiping tables and empting bins.

Hours: 9 hours per week over 3 days

Training: On the job
