The Social Life, Duh

If you’re looking to expand your social circle, joining a club or society that aligns with your interests or career path is the way to go! By joining one or more clubs and societies at UQ, you can get to know others and make personal and professional connections. Having a sense of community at uni is also beneficial to your wellbeing. Plus, you don’t want to only be studying at uni – make the most of the opportunity!

Skill Development

With a huge range of clubs and societies at UQ, there’s bound to be skills that you may be interested in developing or learning! If you’re interested in hobbies, you can brush up on your art skills, learn new dance techniques, or play music. Alternatively, if you’re interested in learning career relevant skills and getting practical experience, you can join faculty clubs that offer workshops or opportunities to add to your repertoire. You can also develop your soft skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, public speaking and working in a team.

The Parties and Events

Another great social aspect of joining a club or society is the diverse parties and events that are run by clubs. There are opportunities to go to networking events, be a part of UQ Union events or go to fabulous balls. You can do regular social sports, go on day trips, do pub crawls and much more! The experiences you make from clubs and societies are unforgettable!

Join the Executive Team

Want to gain leadership experience? Or maybe you have a direction for the club or society that you think would be beneficial to the broader student community. With UQ Union’s clubs and societies, you can put yourself forward to be a part of your club’s executive team. The roles range from President, Secretary, Treasurer, events, social media, designer, and more! These roles are voted in by your club each year so we’d suggest being involved with your community for a better chance.
