Get the most out of uni travel with TransLink

Catching public transport is a cheap, fast and easy way to get to UQ.

Save $$$

If you’re a full-time tertiary student travelling in SEQ, you may be eligible for concession fares, which save you 50% off normal adult rates.

Nothing in life is free, and as such there are some conditions with this concession.

  1. You need to live in Queensland,
  2. Be studying an accredited course (most UQ ones are), and
  3. Be a full-time internal student.

 Travel options

There are tons of travel options running every day to St Lucia Campus. Bus passengers have the choice of two dedicated interchanges:

  • UQ Lakes busway station servicing routes from the CBD, the Inner East, Carindale, Eight Mile Plains and Logan.
  • UQ Chancellors Place servicing routes from the CBD, the Inner West, Toowong and Indooroopilly.

The CityCat runs frequently along the Brisbane River to UQ’s own ferry terminal. Catching the ferry is a great way to unwind after a long day’s study.

Train passengers are also looked after with easy bus transfer options at Park Road and Toowong stations.

 Hack your travel

With so many travel options available, working out which bus, ferry or train to catch can be daunting. Thankfully, TransLink have developed an app that combines all your travel options in one place – the MyTransLink app.

MyTransLink features smart journey planning that combines every bus, train, ferry and tram timetable in SEQ and works out your best and fastest trip, every time. It’s your very own travel hack.

With real-time tracking built in, the app takes away the guessing game so you always know when your service will arrive. Set up your favourite routes and stops to stay informed about unexpected delays or upcoming changes via push notifications.

If you prefer to speak with real person, the TransLink contact centre is open 24/7. They can help you with any public transport question or issue – simply call 13 12 30, anytime.
