“We can honestly say that we started this journey with good intentions, have had a crazy journey learning how to run a business, and are highly grateful that we can now service our community when it’s needed most.”
Fuelling UQ students, staff, and alumni through the times
UQ student-run business, Fuelz Foods is continuing meal production with the aim of keeping some normality in life around these crazy times. Specifically servicing the UQ community for the last 18 months, Fuelz is committed to ensuring this community will remain prioritised through what already appears to be a massive up-turn for the ready meal industry. Possessing a 5-star food safety rating from the Brisbane City Council, and maintaining sustainable buying practices, Fuelz strives to be the go-to service to get anyone through this societal shift.
“From the recent restrictions we’ve seen in areas of recreation being closed down, it’s evident that each Australian needs to do their part and stay at home, not going out unless absolutely necessary. We realise this can be extremely hard when various necessities arise such as food, medication, pet food, work and everything in between. Until these restrictions are lifted, we encourage others to make the most of services still open to bridge these gaps.
As such, we’re launching a platform where people can place orders for their local retailers/grocers and have someone deliver the goods in a safe manner straight to their door. Pickit is now live with an initial launch for St Lucia, Indooroopilly, and Toowong, as well as a link to request suburbs.”
