To help you avoid the FOMO and make sure you check off all the essentials this semester, take a look at our checklist of the top 5 things to do at UQ in Semester 1 below for all of the must do activities to set yourself up for an incredible year!

1 – Join a UQU Club or Society

UQU Clubs and Societies connect over 35,000 students with 220+ affiliated clubs and societies at the University of Queensland. Joining a club or society gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and meet like-minded people. If you want to expand your network, make new friends, participate in cool and diverse events then check out UQU Clubs and Societies!

2 – Grab a Free Meal

In 2014, your UQ Union launched a weekly free breakfast program to improve students’ access to feed during semester. In 2017, this was expanded to provide free dinners. Morning Marmalade and Kampus Kitchen continue to be popular options for students looking for a quick meal on campus or just looking to save some cash.

Morning Marmalade and Kampus Kitchen are open to all UQ students and run throughout semester (except public holidays and downtime). Breakfast typically includes, cereal, fruit and toast and once a week we run a pancake BBQ. Dinners alternate between a variety of tasty and delicious pastas and curries.

3 – Check out the UQU Collectives

Did you know that UQU facilitates 7 student collectives that represent minority, special interest and other community groups on campus?

Collectives offer students at The University of Queensland the opportunity to meet like-minded peers and benefit from a supportive environment, networking opportunities and safer spaces on campus. Our collectives are managed by peer elected committees and completely free to join.

4 – Score a Deal On Your Next Lunch

Have you picked up your FREE student union notebook yet? Not only is it filled with awesome info, but it’s also got a whole bunch of vouchers in it that get you cold hard cash off at UQU outlets. I’m talking the equivalent of up to $25 value that can be used across REDROOM, Pizza Caffe or any of our other participating outlets! And we all know that an extra notebook will always come in handy! Get in quick though; the vouchers are only valid until the 2nd of April.

5 – Sign Up to UQU Rewards

Keen to save some money, without saying goodbye to your social life? Become a UQU Rewards member! When you sign up you’ll gain access to 10% off at UQU outlets on campus, plus over $5000 value with discounts, deals and offers across Brisbane and surrounds!

Perhaps one of these things should’ve been about going to class…but anyway, here we are.
