QAAFI Student Association (QSA)

QSA is the student association for the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI), a UQ research institute supported by the Queensland Government and a global leader in agriculture and food science research in subtropical and tropical production systems. The QAAFI Student Association was created to connect and support all QAAFI students based across different campuses and to enrich their social, academic and professional experience while undertaking a research degree.

The QAAFI Student Association (QSA) mission is to establish a community of support for both domestic and international students undertaking research projects at all levels across the four research centres within QAAFI: Animal, Horticultural, Crop, and Nutrition and Food Sciences. As an organised student society we advocate for the continuous improvement of the student’s research experience and provide advice regarding student matters. With more than 100 students distributed across different UQ campuses and different geographic locations we aim to create a sense of community and inclusion especially for those undertaking remote postgraduate studies. We also are strong advocates for having a balanced social/work life and mental health. Hence, we will be continuously organising social gatherings, sport activities and engagement activities that not only enrich our networking skills but also that can potentiate our career opportunities as part of an important agricultural and food science research institute.
