Singapore Medical Association of Queensland (SMAQ)

SMAQ is a student representative body of current and prospective UQ medical students from Singapore, as well as non-Singaporean UQ medical students with a special interest in the Singapore healthcare sector. We aim to provide Singaporean-oriented social and academic support for our members across their pre-clinical and clinical years. In addition, we continue to facilitate the delivery of contemporaneous information from and to external stakeholders, which includes the Ministry of Health Singapore (MOHH), healthcare recruitment agencies and hospitals, the Singapore Medical Society of Australia and New Zealand (SMSANZ), and the UQ Singapore Student Society (UQSSS).

You may sign up by filling up our membership form: https://tinyurl.com/SMAQ2020. Alternatively, you may email the club secretary at [email protected]. Only current students in the MD program may join the club.

Our club provides networking opportunities among our peers and established clinicians in the field. More importantly, we are the conduit between the University and the Ministry of Health Singapore (MOHH), healthcare recruitment agencies and hospitals. As such, we disseminate information to students who are interested in practising in Singapore. We also have overseas medical volunteering opportunities for students in the club. We are also affiliated with the Singapore Medical society of Australia and New Zealand (SMSANZ) and the UQ Singapore Student Society (UQSSS).
