The University of Queensland Classics and Ancient History Society (CAHS)

Salvete! Χαίρετε! Welcome to the Classics and Ancient History Society! For over 70 years, CAHS has entertained, educated, and inspired students of UQ, whether they be aspiring classicists or just interested in ancient history.

Founded in 1949, the Classics and Ancient History Society is one of the oldest student societies at UQ and the longest-running Classical Studies students’ society in Australia.

We provide a range of social and academic events throughout the year to promote and encourage the study of Classics and Ancient History. You might like to test your knowledge at one of our famous trivia nights or attend one of our workshops aimed at assisting students with essay-writing and exam preparation. Students studying Latin and Ancient Greek at UQ benefit from our Classical Languages and Ancient Mentoring Outreach Program (CLAMO!) and Annual Translation Competition.

CAHS provides a welcoming and supportive environment for students and academic staff to meet, interact, socialise and network. Our friendly executive team are always interested in meeting and discussing their research interests with likeminded students, and are available to answer any questions you may have about studying Classics and Ancient History at UQ.
