UQ Business Association (UQBA)

Established in 2000, the University of Queensland Business Association (UQBA) seeks to actively facilitate the professional development of University of Queensland business, economics, law and commerce students.
As Queensland’s largest business society for students, UQBA has a proud nineteen-year history of hosting prestigious professional networking and social events. Members of UQBA are primarily undergraduate students studying Business, Economics, Law and Commerce.

It remains the steadfast mission of the association to be the connection between students’ university and professional careers by facilitating valuable relationships between our members and sponsor firms, as well as promoting peer-to-peer connections through our social events.

From our pillar networking events including Professional Pathways, Corporate Connections and Sports Gala Day, to the thought-provoking Women in Business Luncheon, insightful Corporate Walkabout and a variety of Case Competitions, UQBA plays a fundamental role in connecting our members with potential employers. Our members are provided with the opportunity to engage in professional networking with corporate leaders across a variety of industries and professional services. Such events broaden members’ horizons in deciding on their future career paths as professionals offer insight into the variety of opportunities to be followed after university.

UQBA also hold fantastic social events including Launch Party to begin the semester, a Pub Crawl and the annual Business Ball. This is the society’s flagship event and a night for students to celebrate a successful year at one of the biggest student-organised black-tie balls in Queensland. The success of the UQBA Ball has been recognised by UQU, being awarded Ball of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Through facilitating meaningful social connections at university, UQBA lays the foundations for long-lasting friendships.

UQBA was recognised as the 2016 Club of the Year by the University of Queensland Union and has proven itself to be Queensland’s premier business association for students, recording an impressive membership base in 2018 of 2,100+ students. The value-offering improves and adapts each year so this figure consistently grows. In 2018, UQBA was nominated for: Video of the Year, Publication Award, Club of the Year (BEL Faculty), Event of the Year, Ball of the Year, President of the Year and Social Convenor of the Year.

UQBA prides itself on the immense value offered to members. The quality and diversity of our corporate and social events is a testament to UQBA’s ability to act autonomously and innovatively in the pursuit of providing our members with the means to achieve their career aspirations and thrive at university. UQU acknowledges the Turrbal and Yugara as the First Nations owners of the lands where UQU now stands. We pay respect to the Elders past and present, and to emerging leaders, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation. We recognise that these lands have always been places of teaching, research and learning. UQU acknowledges the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people play within the community.
