UQ FAS aims to inspire, promote, and foster a love of film art. We host a film screening on the St Lucia campus at 6pm every Tuesday evening during term time, as well as hosting 'Movie Marathon' film screenings of 3-4 films on Tuesdays during the mid-semester breaks.
The society puts on ‘collab’ screenings with other UQ clubs and, in addition, arranges special events for members, such as pre-screening (free) pizza nights, (free) drinks & film discussions at the Red Room, and (free) private screenings at select Brisbane cinemas. See the term card on our socials for further details and dates.
The society is NOT limited to students taking the Film and TV major. We very much welcome anyone to join who is interested in watching a curated programme of great films drawn from the 1930s right up to the present day.
In summary, for a membership fee that is equivalent to only ONE student admission to Event Cinema Indooroopilly ($7), the club offers its members over 25 film screenings per annum, plus numerous other social and film-related events. Truly, this is the best value society on campus!
