Welcome to UQFAS 2024! We are a community devoted to the art of cinema and providing a relaxing, inclusive atmosphere where members and students alike can appreciate film and have fun. Join us, fetch yourself a free packet of popcorn, and get ready to experience the best of 1990s cinema at the University of Queensland screenings this semester.
Whether you’re looking for a fun evening activity to enjoy with friends or you share our passion for film, we invite all members of the wider community – UQ students or otherwise – to join our Tuesday night, 6pm screenings at room 03-309 in the Steele Building, St Lucia campus.
This semester, we’ve put together an exciting mix of genres and languages with a film schedule featuring titles such as Se7en (1995), Princess Mononoke (1997), La Haine (1995), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). We’re very excited to dive into 1990s cinema showcasing the rise of independent film, the best of the action craze, and groundbreaking animation.
UQFAS hosts a range of social events for members, often in collaboration with other UQ clubs and societies. Our staple pre-screening events include free pizza picnics in The Great Court and drinks at the Red Room. On top of that, we’re introducing a range of new opportunities to our members this year, including complimentary tickets to cinema screenings, group engagement in our local film festivals, and lively trivia nights.
We invite members to attend our screenings anytime throughout the year. Memberships are $5, so join now!
Our full film schedule can be found on any of our social media pages. If you have any questions about the University of Queensland Film Appreciation Society, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and say ‘hi’ on any of our social media, or at our UQFAS email: [email protected]
