UQ Finance and Investments Network for Sustainability (UQFINS)
Founded in late 2019, the UQ Finance and Investments Network for Sustainability (UQFINS) is a new student society that aims to increase awareness of the rapidly growing prevalence of sustainable investing and the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions, globally.
UQFINS fosters a community of students from all areas of study who are interested in understanding how we can financially support a cleaner and greener world, without sacrificing profit.
In accordance with these goals, the society runs industry networking events as well as student led discussion evenings. Events follow a format consisting of presentations, panel Q&A sessions and in formal networking. This allows students to gain greater insights into how industry leaders are approaching ESG compliance, financial sustainability and the growing prevalence of sustainable investment products.
The industry events are further supported by student led discussion evenings, which focus on the preceding industry event topic, serving as a platform for students to express their ideas and collaborate with their peers.
To further enhance students’ awareness and understanding of contemporary ESG-related news, events and information, UQFINS releases monthly publications that summarise announcements, transactions and placements, legislative changes and related opinion pieces by UQ students.
