The Food Science Club is continuing its third year of affiliation with UQ Union. While still in its infancy, the club executive will continue to communicate information to our members around the latest food science and technology research, innovation and opportunities, but we also aim to further develop a strong community feel and camaraderie among our members and students of food science and technology.
This semester we hope to achieve these objectives through coordinating a number of networking events, where students can meet industry professionals to discuss trends, opportunities, and the speakers’ own career progression in the Australian food industry.
In addition, we plan to stage food-oriented events such as brewery or factory tours, as well as social events to foster friendships within the club as well as develop our members’ networking skills with their future colleagues.
The presence of UQFSC will not only benefits students but also food companies and food science organisations such as AIFST and FIAQ. The club is open to a mutual relationship with these bodies to deliver the events and assist in advertisements.
