The UQ Linguistics Society is aimed at providing undergraduate and postgraduate students with the opportunity to socialise, network and study with others interested in linguistics. In order to achieve this goal, we organise various and regular social gatherings, promote linguistic happenings within the UQ community, facilitate student connections for exam preparation, hold annual careers nights, and more.
What is linguistics?
Linguistics is the scientific study of language. This includes things like the structure of words and sentences, the sounds or signs used in language, the way that language is learned and taught, how languages change over time or across different communities, and how language is used in different contexts.
