UQ Sikh Society (UQSS)

At UQ Sikh Society we strive to create a space for students to share their love for Sikhi whilst promoting an awareness of our religious and cultural heritage amongst general student body.

The central motto of the society is to Engage-Educate-Encourage. These three central axioms define our society’s values of inclusivity and diversity. We believe in providing a safe medium for Sikh and Non-Sikh students to connect and diversify their university experience through events that encourage physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. This includes sporting events, professional skills development, prayer and kirtan sessions and various workshops. Our work is guided by core Sikh principles which revolve around an activist spirit: defending the rights of all, standing up to injustice and serving the community through selfless service. Establishing a sense of belonging is integral to the work of UQ Sikh Society.
