Founded in 2019, our society is a student-run organization which aims to give our members plenty of fond memories and great connections.
We have persisted through COVID to organise our signature annual ski trips to Queenstown, New Zealand – starting with 19 participates and tripling to 66 by 2022. We are set to have an even bigger Queenstown trip in 2023, with ambitions for another international ski trip (e.g. to Japan) as soon as possible!
ABSOLUTELY CRUCIALLY: you don’t have to be an experienced skier or snowboarder to be one of our crew, just someone who’s ready for a good time! Around 40% of tripgoers in 2022 were “beginners” at the start of the trip – with many of them matching their more experienced colleagues by the end.
Though our ski trips are certainly the most popular event we host, UQ Ski has plenty to offer in the off season too. From adventure activities such as ice skating, beach trips and Urban Xtreme (faux skiing), to casual kick-ons such as pub crawls and picnics, to grand social events like the 2022 ‘Old Sport’ Ball; our society does a little bit of everything.
