UQ Naatak is a society based at the University of Queensland primarily focused on producing and developing quality Indian theatre and film productions as well as showcasing all of India’s regional and creative diversity through regular film screenings.
The UQ BIG BAND was established in 2007 and consists of students and alumni who major in a range of academic fields but share a passion for jazz and contemporary art music.
The Japanese characters 太鼓 (taiko) translate directly to “big fat drum”, a form of traditional Japanese music and art that combines powerful beats with dynamic movements. Although intimately a part of Japanese culture for over 1,000 years, it has now spread all around the world and captured many people’s hearts with its lively, loud, and energetic performances. UQ Taiko holds weekly practice sessions at the University of Queensland St. Lucia campus, where we develop our taiko drumming skills and learn songs that we perform at a range of public and private events.
‘Underground Theatre Company is UQ’s Dramatic Society. We put on a number of mainstage plays each year. Our members are given opportunities to participate in these, as well as theatre festivals, workshops, and social events. From actors to musicians to stage managers to costume designers, Underground welcomes theatrical talents of all shapes and sizes.
The UQ Opera Society hopes to create both professional development and performance opportunities for students interested in classical voice.

UQ Dance is an icon of UQ that is committed to teaching you how to dance in a safe and friendly environment. If you see us dancing on the Grassy Knoll, then feel free to jump in!
QUMS is a non-auditioned choir, based at UQ, for both students of the university and members of the general public. We offer a friendly environment in which music lovers of all ages and from all walks of life can enjoy singing a variety of works. We perform music of all genres and eras, renaissance to modern.
Welcome to Street Groove 2022, Brisbane’s largest street dance uni society! We hold classes and events throughout the Semester, bringing in a wide range of experienced teachers and student teachers.
