UQ Economics Society (UQES)

The University of Queensland Economics Society (UQES) is a dynamic student organisation which aims to enrich the university life of its members by providing opportunities for professional development and social interaction in economics and related fields.

The UQES achieves its goals through various events and initiatives designed to create value for both our members and sponsors. Founded in October 1988 as part of the Economics Society of Australia, the UQES has served the economics community for 31 years and is the only society for Economics students at the University of Queensland.

It runs social events such as the Annual Ball as well as networking events to aid members’ in their career development. In order to fuel the passion for economics for members, the UQES also runs various Discussion Evenings and publishes a wide variety of Publications such as the BEcon Guide for students to easily choose Economics Electives, as well as the Careers Guide, to understand the nature of firms and when to apply. Essentially, the activities and opportunities that UQES provides to its members enriches their tertiary student life in all aspects; particularly through social, career and education related events.

Yes, of course! The UQES runs various events which can be enjoyed by any discipline, especially our social events. Economics related events are tailored to suit any discipline, and no prior knowledge is required.

You will need to renew your membership annually for $5 per year. The membership will last from March 1 through to February 28/29 on a yearly basis.
