Ella
Gutteridge
My name is Ella, I’m a student in the Arts faculty and I’ve been an activist in Brisbane for several years now. I first got involved in activism in high school fighting for refugee rights, against the bipartisan cruelty that locks up asylum seekers in detention for years.
In recent years I’ve been involved more heavily in climate activism in Brisbane, campaigning against the Adani coal mine, for the abolition of fossil fuels and for Scott Morrison to be sacked during the 2019 bushfire crisis.
For the last year I’ve been an Environment Officer of UQU, organising activism on campus – including protesting weapons companies like Rheinmetall when they come onto campus – and calling rallies for climate action in Brisbane more generally.
