Here is a description relating to our Student Executives

International Officer - UQU 2020 Executive

I am a third year bachelor of health science student majoring in public health. I’m excited to be part of the union as I view it as responsible for a major part of the student experience at the university, and I love the idea of being a part of that.

The international department means a great deal to me as I’ve seen, and personally experienced, many of struggles international students face. We all have, or had, different experiences with adjusting to life in Brisbane, and Australia in general. Some of us struggled to find part time jobs in a market that can be very different than what we are used to. Many of us faced ignorance about our individual culture and background. International students need to know that they are not alone and that they have support from students that experience just what they do.

I will work to make this year the best one yet for international students, providing support in many different areas, such as employability, social networks, and welfare.

The international department at UQU will go the extra mile to ensure that international students at UQ are cared for, supported, and never, ever, feel alone.
