Student Advocacy and Support and UQU Student Rights Collective recognise that purchasing essential academic materials to complete studies is an increased burden on students already experiencing financial hardship. Eligible students can apply for the following materials:

General

  • Laboratory Coat

  • Safety Glasses

  • Headphones/earphones

  • Dissecting Kit

  • Safety boots

  • Textbooks

  • Notebooks

  • Basic stationery

  • Calculators


Discipline Specific

  • Stethoscope

  • Nurses kit

  • Tendon hammer

  • Reflex hammer

  • Diagnostic Torch

  • Nursing pouch

  • Thermometer

  • Nurses watch


Other items can be considered upon request.

Eligibility Conditions

To apply for a UQU Accessible Academic Grant you must:

  • Be a current enrolled UQ student (undergraduate or postgraduate)

  • Be experiencing extenuating circumstances that will impact your ability to comfortably purchase academic materials essential to your studies. This may include, but is not limited to, the following: reduced work hours, or unforeseen disruptions to study.

  • Provide evidence to substantiate your claim that you are or will experience financial hardship. This includes: evidence of personal circumstances, evidence of current income (bank statement demonstrating previous 3 months of income and expenses), and statement demonstrating course need for specific item (if applicable)

  • Not have applied for another UQU bursary within the same year.
